VÄLKOMMEN TILL ÅRETS KONVENT I HAPARANDA
16 – 17 juni 2010
Temat för årets konvent inom ramen för Barents Reunion är Gränslös
turism - framtiden för de kreativa näringarna i Barentsregionen
Konventet samlar ett 100-tal deltagare från fyra länder och fem folk i
Barentsregionen till två dagars föredrag och samtal om samverkan och
utveckling av de kreativa näringarna i regionen. Deltagarna får också stor
möjlighet till nätverkande och utbyte av idéer. Moderator är Malcolm
Dixelius.
Nyhet i år - Årets entreprenör
Nytt för i år är utmärkelsen ”Årets entreprenör”. Nominering av kandidater
till priset har skett under våren via Barents Reunions hemsida
(www.barentsreunion.com). Av ett tjugotal nominerade kommer en vinnare
att få 5 000 Euro av IKEAs grundare Ingvar Kamprad under konventets
första dag.
Parallellt med årets konvent sker också ett möte av transportministrar från
EU, Norra Europa och Kina i Haparanda. De kommer också att möta
deltagarna i konventet.
Konventet äger rum i Haparanda, Cape East Hotell och Konferenscenter och
är öppet för journalister och media representanter.
Två pressmöten kommer att hållas:
16 juni 14.00 i samband med utdelningen av priset ”Årets entreprenör”
17 juni 15.00 i samband med avslutningen av konventet

- € 5 000 award for successful entrepreneurship within tourism and creative business in the Barents Region
- Expanded Barents Reunion convention in June 2010

The Barents Reunion governing board invites all media and anybody who is interested in the Barents Region and Barents Reunion.
The participants are:
- Raimo Ronkanen mayor of Tornio
- Sven-Erik Bucht, mayor of Haparanda
- Christina Lugnet, Director of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth
- Susanne Wallin, Ikea Haparanda/Tornio
Local media are invited to Sverigefinska folkhögskolan in Haparanda at 10.00 CET (11.00 Finnish time, 12.00 Moscow time).

Media not present at the press conference can ask questions either by mail or using this website.
The press conference will be held in Swedish and Finnish.

PRESS INVITATION
Welcome to attend the second convention organized by the organization Barents Reunion, on the 25-26th of June, 2009 in Haparanda-Tornio.
This year's theme for the Convention is energy and environment, and it focuses on energy and environmental issues specifically affecting the Barents region. The program includes lectures and presentations by the leading experts in this field, representatives of industry and the five nations, as well as Ingvar Kamprad, and Mats Paulsson, PEAB. The Convention shall continue the discussion and the work started at the first Convention, and shall contribute to increased vitality and confidence among the people of the Barents Region. We invite the media to participate during the entire convention in Haparanda 25-26th of June or in individual parts of the program (Program attached). In parallel with the Convention, there will be various cultural activities in Haparanda-Tornio, such as Jazz and Blues Festivals, Athletics and orienteering competitions for children and young people, sponsored by the Barents Reunion.

Background
In connection with the opening of IKEA in Haparanda-Tornio Ingvar Kamprad donated 1 million Swedish Kronas per year during 2007-2016 to the annual event, Barents Reunion. More sponsors have joined the project; IKEA and PEAB are the main sponsors in 2009. The aim is to promote cooperation between the peoples of the Barents region. Conventions have different themes, with particular focus on entrepreneurship, education, labor, energy and environment, as well as culture and sport.
