Entrepreneur of the Year

GOALS


Barents Reunion is a not-for-profit organisation set up upon a donation from the founder of IKEA, Ingvar Kamprad, in connection with the inauguration of the IKEA store in Haparanda-Tornio in 2007. The purpose is to encourage entrepreneurship, trade and cross-border contacts in the Barents Region. In three successive years, Barents Reunion has convened for seminars in Haparanda. The next meeting will be on 16-17 June2011 inHaparanda-Tornio. As a manifestation of the increasing significance of this forum, and to put entrepreneurship in an even clearer focus, Barents Reunion has announced an award:
 
Barents Entrepreneur of the Year.

CRITERIA


The Barents Entrepreneur of the Year shall fulfil the following criteria and shall operate in the field of retail tourism/trade. The candidate shall:
  • currently be a business leader/self-employed person, living and working in the Barents Region
  • show how to move from an idea to a creative business concept
  • display creativity beyond the ordinary, and entrepreneurship of advanced creativity that dares to take new paths
  • set a good example as regards leadership and values, and be an ambassador for young entrepreneurs
  • be an out of the ordinary exemplar of customer service and customer care
  • work successfully together with other entrepreneurs to achieve business profitability.
 
The Barents Entrepreneur of the Year Award is given to an entrepreneur who during the year has carried out a unique achievement in the Barents area and who, by through his/her lifestyle, and by running a company can inspire others to dare and to succeed.

WHO MAY NOMINATE?


a person, company or organisation operating in the Barents Region may nominate a candidate for Barents Entrepreneur of the Year
  • an entrepreneur may also nominate him/herself on condition that there is another person or organisation willing to support the candidacy.

HOW DO I SUBMIT A NOMINATION?

  • Nomination is done by filling in the form (see link below).
  • Priority is given to entrepreneurs operating within the theme area for the year. The theme for 2011 is retail tourism and trade.
 

PRIZE-GIVING

  • The winner will be presented during Barents Reunion 2011 in Haparanda-Tornio and will receive a diploma and a prize of €5,000 from the founder of IKEA, Ingvar Kamprad.
  • The winner will also be encouraged to offer his/her services as mentor for another entrepreneur during the year to come.
