About Barents Reunion

In connection with the opening of IKEA HaparandaTornio Ingvar Kamprad donated 1 million Swedish kronas per year over the period 2007-2016 to an annual event, Barents Reunion. More sponsors have joined the project. The aim is to promote cooperation between the peoples of the Barents region.

Barents Reunion is to become an annual event in HaparandaTornio to promote cooperation between the peoples of the Barents region, ie Sameland, Russia (Murmansk Oblast), Norway(Nordland, Troms, Finnmark), Finland(Lapland) and Sweden (Norrbotten).

Annual conventions have different topics, with particular focus on entrepreneurship, education, labour, energy and environment, as well as culture and sports.

In 2009 Barents Reunion was funded by IKEA and Peab.
